Problem

SPACES Denemead was awarded a contract to design, manufacture, install and commission (4-off) 5.5kW floating surface aerators in a 3,500m² lagoon at RAF Kinloss, near Inverness similar to the one below:

Unfortunately SPACES Denemead is situated some 915km away from RAF Kinloss which meant that the costs for them to perform the associated installation and commissioning activities for the aerators were disproportionately high.

Solution

Xm Services was able to assist SPACES Denemead by performing the required mechanical and electrical installation activities for a competitive cost which included:

• Preparation and approval of site risk assessments and installation method statements
• Manufacturing a trolley capable of supporting the aerators as they were transferred into the lagoon
• Installation of the mooring posts around the periphery of the lagoon
• Assembly of the surface aerators and make-up of the mooring and electrical power cables
• Transfer of the aerators into the lagoon, floating them into the required position and securing them to the relevant mooring posts
• Electrical installation of aerators and commissioning to ensure correct operation
